Another Behind-the-Scenes Preview for ‘The Iron Claw’ Wrestling Film
“Woo! Now you’re flyin’, boy!” A24 has revealed the official trailer for the film The Iron Claw, directed by Sean Durkin (of Martha Marcy May Marlene, The Nest, “Dead Ringers”). Critics have been raving about this, set to open soon this month. The film is about the family of wrestlers, the Von Erich family, and their legacy as they popularized wrestling helping make it a big success. The film is centered around this Texas family, a dynasty of wrestlers from the 1960s onwards that had enormous success, and popularized the iron claw professional wrestling hold. However, they not only had to battle inside of the ring, but also fight the “Von Erich curse” outside of it. This stars Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson as Kevin, Kerry and David Von Erich, respectively. The film’s cast also includes Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany, Stanley Simons, Brady Pierce, and Lily James, plus a few real wrestlers including Ryan Nemeth. This featurette has behind-the-scenes + interview footage with the main trio, along with more film footage.
Here’s the second trailer (+ poster) for Sean Durkin’s The Iron Claw, direct from A24’s YouTube:
The true story of the inseparable Von Erich brothers, Kevin, Kerry and David, who made history in the intensely competitive world of professional wrestling in the early 1980s. Through tragedy and triumph, under the shadow of their domineering father and coach, the brothers seek larger-than-life immortality on the biggest stage in sports. The Iron Claw is both written and directed by Canadian indie filmmaker Sean Durkin, director of the films Martha Marcy May Marlene and The Nest previously, as well as the series “Southcliffe” and “Dead Ringers“. Produced by Sean Durkin, Juliette Howell, Angus Lamont, & Tessa Ross. This hasn’t premiered at any film festivals or elsewhere, as far as we know. A24 will debut Durkin’s The Iron Claw film in theaters starting on December 22nd, 2023 later this year. Who’s into this? Look any good?
