Salman Khan, had expressed his desire to open up theaters across the country in the past. The actor was planning to open his theater chain called ‘Salman Talkies’ but the plans were put on hold due to COVID 19 pandemic. But is he really planning to do so again? The Tiger 3 star has revealed the truth.

Salman Khan’s plan to open ‘Salman Talkies’

In an earlier interview with Etimes, Salman Khan had talked about his passion project. He had confirmed that he was coming up with his own theater chain despite the pandemic paused the project. “It is still in works. We were planning it, but everything was put on hold. Slowly, we will get back to it, but definitely someday,” Khan had said.

Reports also suggested that Khan is planning to open theaters, not in big cities like Mumbai but in rural areas and the outskirts of the cities. “We had planned to open them up in smaller towns where people didn’t have access to theaters. Not here in cities like Mumbai,” he told Etimes. A report in Mumbai Mirror also stated that these theaters will sell tickets that would be tax-free and available at subsidized rates. Moreover, they would be free for children from underprivileged backgrounds.

And now in a new exclusive interview with Pinkvilla, Salman Khan said he will start working on it by next year. He said, “I will; by next year, I will start. It’s a long process. We will start on that, slowly, steadily but surely.”

Tiger 3, directed by Maneesh Sharma and produced by Aditya Chopra, was released on November 12, 2023, coinciding with Diwali.

The film, which also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi, is the fifth installment in the YRF Spy Universe. It is a sequel to Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and follows the adventures of Tiger and Zoya, two former spies who are framed as traitors by an ex- ISI agent named Aatish Rehman.

The film opened to mixed reviews and word of mouth. The film is set to finish under Rs 300 crores in India and is a disaster overseas. But Salman Khan had said that he is happy with the response his latest film Tiger 3 has received from the audience.

The film was made at an estimated budget of ₹ 300 crore, making it the most expensive project of Yash Raj Films. It was also released in standard, IMAX, 4DX, and other premium formats. Interestingly, all 23 Imax theaters in India were allotted to Tiger 3, instead of The Marvels, the upcoming superhero film from Marvel Studios.

Salman Khan will now start working on Karan Johar production The Bull with director Vishnuvardhan. He also is expected to have Dabangg 4 and Kick 2 in his lineup of films.
