Warning! This article contains spoilers for The Incredible Hulk #6 Ghost Rider is and has always been one of the strongest antiheroes in Marvel Comics history, no matter the iteration, though this latest version definitely stands out, as he just debuted a new weapon to beat the Hulk. Indeed, this weapon might just prove true the haunting words the new Ghost Rider said to Hulk right after his initial attack, “You sleep in hell tonight”.

Fans have known about the inclusion of a new Ghost Rider within Hulk’s ongoing continuity since a preview showing Ghost Rider’s badass new hellcycle was released. However, knowing a new Ghost Rider is coming and actually seeing him in action are two completely different things, and the latest issue of The Incredible Hulk did not disappoint in that regard.

As it turns out, Ghost Rider’s new hellcycle ended up not being the only awesome upgrade given to the Spirit of Vengeance. Along with the World War II soldier aesthetic and the classic Harley-Davidson WLA motorcycle, Marvel’s new Ghost Rider also wields a machine gun imbued with hellfire – a gun that seems to have a deadly impact on the Hulk.

In The Incredible Hulk #6 by Phillip Kennedy Johnson and Nic Klein, Bruce Banner and his new sidekick, Charlie, are taken in by a group of people living in a temporary camp while working a contract job in that area. Bruce and Charlie are on a mission to track down and kill every monster the Hulk unwittingly summoned, so this was just a rare moment of rest and relaxation. However, the R-and-R didn’t last, as the Hulk accidentally summoned another – albeit more heroic – monster: Ghost Rider.

The Ghost Rider host in this issue is named Sal, and he watches out for the people staying in this area, as there are a number of supernatural creatures lurking there. Ghost Rider mistakes the Hulk as one of these malevolent entities, and attacks him with deadly force – aka, with the aforementioned hellfire machine gun. Ghost Rider shoots the Hulk with this weapon, and the bullets not only pierce the Hulk’s nearly unbreakable skin, but they also leave tracks of hellfire within the wounds, causing even more damage to the Jade Giant.

While this new hellfire machine gun is incredible to see in action (especially if it can, in fact, kill the Hulk), this isn’t the first time a Ghost Rider has used something like this. In Ghost Rider/Blaze: Spirits of Vengeance, Ghost Rider and Johnny Blaze have been separated, and are working together as partners to fight the evil forces of hell seeping into the physical world. Since he no longer had the Spirit of Vengeance within him, Blaze was given a hellfire-imbued gun. In the very first issue of this comic, fans are shown the raw power of this weapon. And now, readers are introduced to a weapon of equal caliber, and only time will tell if this hellfire gun will prove even deadlier than the first.

Though it isn’t the first time a hellfire gun has been used by a Ghost Rider in Marvel Comics canon, this new hellfire machine gun might just do what no other Ghost Rider weapon (or any other weapon, for that matter) could do: kill the Hulk – thus making the sinister line, “You sleep in hell tonight” a frightening reality.
