SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 follows up on the story presented in the first game and Spider-Man: Miles Morales, featuring a great and often shocking narrative. There’s also plenty of side content – like finding Spider-bots, hunting collectibles, and fighting crimes – to keep the web-slingers busy as they glide across New York City and attempt to take down villains like Venom and Kraven the Hunter. With so much to do already, it might seem like the game ends once players actually beat Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Both the first Marvel’s Spider-Man on PS4 and Spider-Man: Miles Morales offered plenty to do after beating the game. From new Spidey suits to unlocking an extra difficulty, each game had replay value in addition to simply being able to web-sling across NYC for fun while nabbing collectibles. Since the first game’s release, it’s become even more commonplace for games to continue once the credits roll – but does Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 continue this trend?

Unlocking Ultimate Difficulty In Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

The post-game content in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 will depend on a few factors, like how many side missions were completed when playing through the story, and how many collectibles have already found. Even after the credits roll, though, players are free to continue on the same save file. This is great for cleaning up on collectibles and side content that was initially missed or skipped. Additionally, a new difficulty mode – Ultimate Difficulty – is unlocked after beating the game and allows the story to be replayed on the hardest possible difficulty.

Does Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Have New Game Plus?

At launch, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 does not have a New Game Plus mode that will unlock upon beating the game for the first time. However, Insomniac’s James Stevenson (via Twitter) has stated that NG+ will be a part of the post-launch content plan for the game. For now, though, there’s no date for when to expect this addition to arrive.

The narrative and optional content in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is impressive, and thankfully, there’s still lots to do after beating the game. For anyone looking to replay the story in NG+, that will have to wait a while longer, but there is an Ultimate Difficulty to unlock. However, the game can also be played after beating it on the same save file to simply complete finding collectibles and/or finishing side missions and Spider-bots. Because of this, completionists and trophy hunters will definitely want to keep playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 after the credits roll.
