Nandamuri Balakrishna’s latest film Bhagavanth Kesari, directed by Anil Ravipudi, hit the screens on October 19 amid high expectations. The film, which also stars Sreeleela, Kajal Aggarwal and Arjun Rampal, is an action-comedy that revolves around a middle-aged man who becomes the guardian of a young girl after her father’s death. He tries to convince her to join the army, but she faces many obstacles along the way.

According to trade reports, the film has collected around Rs 18 crore on its opening day from across India, which is a decent figure considering the competition from Vijay’s Leo. The film has received positive reviews from critics and audiences alike, who have praised Balakrishna’s performance, Ravipudi’s direction and Thaman’s music. The film is expected to pick up momentum over the long weekend and emerge as a hit.

However, the film has also faced some challenges at the box office due to the clash with Leo, which is a massive blockbuster. The Tamil action-thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and starring Vijay, Trisha, Sanjay Dutt and others, has shattered several records on its first day. The film has reportedly earned Rs 80 crore net in India and Rs 132 crore gross worldwide on its opening day, making it the biggest global opening of 2023. The film has also received rave reviews for its gripping storyline, stunning action sequences and Vijay’s dual role.

Bhagavanth Kesari faces clash with Leo at box office

Leo has also impacted the collections of Bhagavanth Kesari in some regions, especially in Karnataka and Telangana, where Vijay has a huge fan base. The film has also dominated the overseas markets, where it has surpassed the collections of Bhagavanth Kesari by a huge margin. While Leo is a Tamil film, it not just made its presence amply felt but almost matched Bhagavanth Kesari in the Andhra states. It now also has a new competitor in the form of Tiger Nageswara Rao. However, Bhagavanth Kesari still has a chance to recover its costs and make profits in its home territory of Andhra Pradesh, where Balakrishna enjoys a loyal fan following.

Both films are expected to continue their strong run at the box office in the coming days and provide entertainment to the audiences during the festive season.
